Happy Thanksgiving weekend

Our latest adventure...

We met some nice people who were also stuck on the rock due to the broken ferry situation. They were in the same campground as us in Stephenville and were also trying to get a ferry to Nova Scotia before the 21- 24th of October. (October 21 was the first date that we could reserve. However, we were told to keep phoning as maybe we could get an earlier date.) Our new friends knocked on our door at 11:30 Friday night and told us that they just got their reservation changed to 11:15 the next morning.

Jack phoned the ferry and we also got a reservation for the same time, now the question was to either pack up and drive the 170 k. to the ferry that night or wait and get up early and then go. We chose the first plan, packed up and headed out. The drive was uneventful except for the dark, rain, sleet, fear of moose, and construction zones that made the journey interesting. But the final touch was the huge sign that warned that Rv’s (and in particular ours:-) ) were in danger of being blown off the road in the high wind area.

We arrived at the terminal at about 3:00 am. The nice guy informed us that we couldn’t go into the parking area until 4:30. So we turned around and drove back up the hill and parked beside the highway outside the Timmies, where we pretend to sleep for a few hours. We did get Timmies for breakfast.

We found out later that our friends were able to park inside the ferry parking area. Hmmm. The ferry trip was rough at times due to the high wind but now we are back in NS and looking for somewhere to have a turkey dinner. Bye for now.

...Oh by the way… we did some great sight seeing around the cape St. George area until the weather turned cold and miserable. Now we are off to explore Nova Scotia.
